Tom Hanks is Hollywood’s elite and one of the most prolific performers of our generation, with a decades-long career. The actor starred in a variety of fan-favorite films where he traveled into space, fought battles and solved puzzles. And on the way to becoming a famous actor, Hanks became the father of five children.
Before divorcing his first wife Samantha Lewes in 1987, he had two children with her, Colin Hanks and Elizabeth Ann Hanks.
In 1988, Tom remarried Rita Wilson and had two more children, becoming stepfather to Wilson’s child from a previous marriage. All of his children pursued careers in film and music, while Elizabeth Ann Hanks, Tom’s only daughter, took a different artistic path.

Elizabeth eventually left acting and spent a year studying literature at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. She then attended Vassar College in the state of New York, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in English and literature in 2005. She later became a writer, publishing under the pen name EA Hanks, which she also uses on her Twitter and Instagram profiles.
Elizabeth became famous as a writer after her works were published in prestigious magazines such as Time and The Guardian. She is working on her first children’s novel, Piper Peregrine Vs. Consortium for Better Thinking, according to Suggest.
In 2019, her father spoke to The New York Times about how she and her brother Colin were treated differently than her two other half-siblings. “My son and daughter were born when I was a child. But that means we have that gestalt consciousness because they remember when their father was just an ordinary guy trying to make ends meet, Tom said.
He went on to say that his other children were born after he “built the beach in every sense”, and as a result, their lives were not the same.
Elizabeth Ann Hanks is very proud of her father.
It’s no secret that Tom is a family man, as he often extolled the virtues of his family. These ideals were taught to his children, especially Elizabeth. The entire Hanks family was in attendance at the 2020 Golden Globes when the Saving Private Ryan star was presented with the Cecil B. DeMille Award.
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association honors one recipient each year for “outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment.” Elizabeth took to Instagram to share a snap of her entire family, along with a message for her dad.
“Tim Hanks is overjoyed. And I’m glad and even more fortunate that I have a father who taught me to always tell the truth, to move forward, that acting is the best part of circus life and that creating art is a gift from the gods. ” The author wrote.
