What happened to X Japanese bassist
Heath, whose real name was Hiroshi Morie, joined the legendary band X Japan in 1992, taking Taiji Sawada’s place in the spotlight. After Sawada left the group due to creative differences, Heath quickly established himself as a vital component of the team. His great bass playing and captivating stage persona were major factors in the band’s success. He actively contributed to the creation of albums such as “Dahlia” and “The Last Live”, as well as joined them on numerous tours and concerts, leaving a lasting impression on the X Japan catalog. Recognized for his skill, stunning demeanor, long hair and body art, Heath contributed to X Japan’s national and worldwide success, especially in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
After a year-long battle with cancer, Heath, the bassist of the renowned Japanese rock group X Japan, passed away at the age of 55. His bandmates and close friends confirmed his death, expressing shock and sadness at the loss of a gifted musician and good man. Heath was reportedly diagnosed with cancer earlier this year, but chose to keep the news of his illness a secret, even from his fellow musicians. It was reported that he wanted to focus on his treatment and therapy without disturbing or bothering anyone.
However, in recent weeks his health suddenly deteriorated and he died on November 7, 2023. Since 1992, he has been a member of the renowned Japanese rock group X Japan. Heath was a key member of the band until its breakup in the late 1990s, through many hiatuses and line-up changes. After the band broke up, he began a solo career, playing music and working with other musicians. Additionally, he returned to X Japan after their 2007 reunion and participated in their comeback recordings and performances.
