As of FFXIV patch 6.2, Astro Tomestones are our uncapped level 90 tomestones, which means they are used to purchase endgame crafting materials and some gear to upgrade to.
You will collect astronomy from 90 level activities like homework, roulette, hunts and treasure maps. If you have it in stock, you can buy it here.
Materials
The astronomy canon can be found in Raz-at-Han and Cihanti use together [10.8, 10.3].
Astronomical Tomes are very important to crafters, as they are used to purchase the highest level crafting materials to create equipment powerful enough to enter the current level of Brutal Raid.
There are also materials that can be used to craft battle potions called tinctures. These consumables are in constant demand but are often more competitive in the market than equipment.
Even if you’re not a crafter, you shouldn’t let your reputation in astronomy fall into disrepute! Buy materials and sell them on the market for gil. The top six expensive materials on the list are “hot” materials. The cheapest ones are the top tier and aren’t worth much anymore.
Check your marketplace boards to see what’s for sale on your particular server. A quick way is to set up a favorites list. Right-click on an item in the search results and add it to your favorites list.
Using the Favorites button in the bottom left corner of the Market Board window, you can quickly look through your inventory to see which materials are most valuable, and then spend your Codex Stones on that material.
buy recovery equipment
You can also use the Astro Stone to buy Radiant sets. You may recognize this outfit as the NPC outfits of the Radiant Host members. You can see them around Thavnair and during Endwalker MSQ.
Radiological defense suit.
At ilvl 590, this gear is enough for level 90 dungeons and story mode trials and raids. Since Astronomy can be farmed so easily, it’s a good choice if you’re just looking to try a new job with max-level content.
If you’re a fan of Charm and want to dye it, you’ll need to upgrade it to item level 600.
Roborant (for weapons), Twine (for left parts), and Coating (for accessories) can be obtained from Nesvaaz in Radz-at-Han Buy [10.6, 10.0] Use Aglaia tokens (level 90 Alliance Raid).
These upgrades can also be obtained from the appropriate hunting vendors in Old Shalaine or Razhan for bags of nuts.
Bring the Radiant gear and the appropriate upgrades to the Khaldeen in Radz-at-Han [10.9, 10.4] Exchange them for improved radiation equipment.
Notes on Tomestone Cycles
The way currency works in Final Fantasy XIV is that, at any given time, there are two endgame canons. Both tomestones can be harvested by working at the highest level (90), but one has a weekly cap (450/week), while the other can be farmed indefinitely.
A new capped tome (causality in 6.2) appears every even-numbered patch, at which point the previously capped tome (astronomy) becomes open. The previously uncovered tomestone (motto) has been deprecated and is no longer used to buy things from vendors.
If you haven’t already, you can trade in any unused Maxim contrails for Astronomy.
Please note that as players acquire more and more equipment from limited-time sources like Savage Raids and Karma Stones, players will need less and less of these crafting materials and potions. Astronomy values decrease over time, so be sure to make the most of them!
