SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher spoke about the impact of last year’s strike, the need to challenge the use of artificial intelligence and the importance of female leadership. “We don’t have to emulate the male energy,” Drescher, 66, told the audience.

Killers of the Flower MoonLily Gladstone’s Lily Gladstone accepted the award for Outstanding Actress in a Leading Role in a Blackfeet Language, her native language, and Oppenheimer he ended the night with a win for acting in a film. Kenneth Branagh praised how the cast joined the strike and moved in a “solidarity direction” immediately after the film’s July premiere.

Also in the press room, Ayo Edebiri gushed about playing in Sydney Bearwhich earned her the award for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series earlier in the night.

“I admire her tenacity,” said Edebiri, 28. “Any person who’s busy can relate to wanting to show who you are. That she’s like a young black woman with flaws. I started in comedy to play a character that’s three-dimensional as the men in the show is something I really love. It’s a thrill to play with him as an actor.”

As Oppenheimer won the final award of the night, married couple Billy Crudup and Naomi Watts walked hand in hand. Right backstage, Streep (74) took a selfie with her Just the murders in the building costar Jeremy Shamos before the ceremony ended.
