AND Wheel of fortune mistake goes viral after a contestant guesses the hilariously wrong answer.
During the holiday-themed episode that aired on December 17, contestant Phil McManus made a huge mistake. McManus, who is from Palmer, Massachusetts, seemed confident as he attempted to solve the puzzle, which was in the “Same Letter” category. When the board next to Vanna White read “Chocolate, chestnuts and chi_ne_s,” host Ryan Seacrest asked McManus if he wanted to solve the puzzle — which contained all the words related to the holiday — or if he wanted to spin the wheel.
McManus decided to solve the three-word puzzle, answering: “Chocolate, chestnuts and chickens.” Immediately after his guess, a contestant named Matt Komma of Riverton, Utah, gave the correct answer: “Chocolate, chestnuts, and chimneys.” Komma won $4,200, while McManus lost $9,550 for an incorrect answer.

Viewers quickly took to social media to roast McManus for the blunder.
“That was my shopping list last weekend,” joked one X (ex-Twitter) user, while another viewer wrote on Instagram: “I was screaming at the TV.”
“I was laughing so hard my deaf dog jumped out of her bed 🤣,” someone else wrote in the same Instagram thread.
Incorrect answer aside, appearing on the show marked a major life turning point for McManus, who shared with Seacrest, 49, and viewers that he was diagnosed with cancer two years ago and had a “death sentence.” He said he made a bucket list of three things after his diagnosis: attend a Blink-182 reunion concert, go to WrestleMania and visit Disneyland.
“I’ve never been to Disneyland and last night was actually my first time,” he said, while also revealing that he is now in remission.

McManus isn’t the first contestant to pull off a viral flop in the iconic game. On the Nov. 11 episode, a contestant named Will attempted to solve the “Give Yourself a Clap” puzzle with “Treat Yourself to a Round of Sausage,” according to a clip shared on X.

After Will’s “misssolve”, his colleague Katina answered correctly.
“Will, I kind of like yours better,” Seacrest joked afterward, adding, “That sounds better than just clapping now.”
