When Does Spotify Wrapped Stop Tracking 2024 Data? Everything to Know About the Annual Campaign

It’s that time of year again — time for Spotify to remind you how much Taylor Swift you actually listen to in a 12-month period!

Spotify Wrapped, the app’s annual look at each user’s listening data for the year, historically drops around the end of December. (It debuted on November 29th last year). The feature not only gives listeners a personalized look back at the music they streamed the most over the past year, but also offers a look at global trends.

But one question continues to plague Spotify users — when exactly does the streaming service stop collecting data for its Wrapped campaign?

2021, a Spotify employee reportedly said Newsweek data collection ended on October 31, with the claim that “the hard limit just works [the] campaign.” However, Spotify denied the claim in 2023 in a response to a since-deleted post on Xu (formerly Twitter).

“Hmm, that doesn’t sound good to us. Don’t worry, Wrapped is still counting after October 31st 👀,” the post read.

The exact end date remains a mystery, but given that Spotify Wrapped tends to drop in early December, it seems likely that the cutoff is around mid-November. That gives holiday music fans a little over a month to indulge in as many repeats of “All I Want for Christmas Is You” as possible without it being their top song of the year.

Sharing Wrapped scores on social media has become a tradition over the past nine years since Spotify first introduced the feature. As a result, Wrapped panic has become a real thing as listeners fear its results — and may even try to game the system by listening to more songs they think are cool towards the end of the year.

However, life is too short to not just accept a month where you played Sabrina Carpenter’s “Please, Please, Please” on loop or rediscovered your love for *NSYNC thanks to Deadpool vs. Wolverine. Let the world see the results of your Brat Summer — and just know that your friends are probably a little nervous to share some of their best songs, too.

As for the artists who will top the charts in 2024, Swift is highly likely, with Sabrina Carpenter, Charli xcx and Chappell Roan also considered safe bets. Several country artists may also appear on the most-streamed list, thanks in large part to hitmakers like Beyoncé, Shaboozey, Morgan Wallen, Post Malone and more.

Last year, Swift, 34, Bad Bunny, The Weeknd, Drake and Mexican star Peso Pluma topped the annual countdown.
