When Boiling Point arrived on Netflix in 2021, it caused a storm among fans and critics, so many were delighted that the story created by Philip Barantini was returning to television format for a four-part drama series on the BBC.
Based on the trials and tribulations of running a fast-paced restaurant kitchen environment under intense pressure, the drama takes a closer look at the team behind the posh restaurant Point North, which was founded after the film’s restaurant, Jones & Sons, closed. down.

Movie Boiling point was set in a restaurant called Jones & Sons run by chef Andy Jones (played by Stephen Graham). After a very important night at a London location is met with a series of serious mishaps, the venue closes and Andy, after consuming alcohol and drugs, suffers a heart attack and collapses.

In the show, Point North is described as a restaurant that celebrates and brings Northern cuisine to the heart of London. Unfortunately for fans of the series, Point North is a fictional restaurant.
Where was Boiling Point filmed?
Although the story is set in London, Boiling point it was filmed entirely in Manchester. Moreover, the real restaurant was not used at all. Instead, the cast and crew decided to use a recording studio, Space Studios, based in Gorton, Manchester, to shoot scenes for the four episodes.

Actor Shaun Fagan joins the cast as a new character named Fagan, a chef who is passionate about what he does. Speaking about the location, he said: “It was so unnerving because from the outside it’s a massive wooden frame and yet the moment you walk in it’s like you’ve just walked into a restaurant. Even when we were filming, at the end of the shot you walk off the set and forget that you’re actually in the studio.”

Who stars in Boiling Point?
The cast, including Stephen Graham, Vinette Robinson, Ray Panthaki and Hannah Walters, reprized their roles for the series version Boiling point.
Some new stars also joined. Joel MacCormack joined as Liam Astrid, a businessman looking to secure investment for Point North. Actor Stephen Odubola takes on the role of Johnny, a chef who has his first day in the Point North kitchen in the first episode, but initially finds the job overwhelming.

What do fans think of Boiling Point?
Boiling Point enjoys excellent reviews. One person wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: “Watching #BoilingPoint, I knew the restaurant staff were working hard, but good insight into how hard they really are! #Grafters.”
