Holmes also made a brief call to 911, hoping for intervention, but the call was abruptly cut short.
During the fatal shooting, Holmes opened fire on the theater audience after opening an exit door and using gas or smoke canisters. 12 people died in the attack and 70 were injured. He was quickly arrested near his car behind the Century 16 Theater without resistance.
