Caroline Wozniacki comes from a distinguished sporting background, as her parents and brother followed professional athletic careers. She originally started playing tennis at the age of 7 at a small club south of Copenhagen. The Danish tennis player started her adventure as a judge for her family members and friends, and finally reached the first place in the ranking of individual players.
This success was significantly influenced by the support of parents and brother. On 11 October 2010, she became world No. 1 in singles, becoming the 20th player in the Open era and the first representative of a Scandinavian country to hold the No. 1 position. Caroline Wozniacki was born on July 11, 1990 to parents Anna and Piotr Wozniacki. Her mother, Anna, was a member of the Polish women’s volleyball team, while her father, Piotr, pursued a career in professional soccer. The family went to Denmark after Piotr joined the Danish football team B1909.
Throughout Caroline’s tennis career, her father was her head coach, providing guidance at all levels. Growing up, the family embraced outdoor activities, and swimming and soccer were early pastimes for the children. Caroline’s older brother, Patrik Wozniacki, born on July 24, 1986, also played professional soccer in Denmark. Moreover, Caroline had the help of her mother and brother, who drew on their own sporting experiences to advise her wherever possible.
Married and mother of two children
The tennis player was previously romantically engaged to Northern Irish professional golfer Rory Mcllroy from 2011 to 2014. Their engagement was announced in a tweet on January 1, 2014, however, they called off their engagement on May 21, 2014. On February 14, 2017. Wozniacki confirmed that she is dating former NBA basketball player David Lee. The couple got engaged on November 2, 2017, and exchanged wedding vows on June 16, 2019. They welcomed their first child, a girl, Olivia Wozniacki Lee, on June 11, 2021. A year later, their second child, a boy, James Wozniacki Lee, was born on the 24 October 2022
Return to the court after three years
Back on the tennis court for the first time since 2020, Caroline Wozniacki returned to tennis by defeating Kimberly Birrell 6-2, 6-2 in the first round of the Canadian Open in Montreal on August 8. 2023 After winning 30 singles titles, Wozniacki announced her retirement after the 2020 Australian Open.
In June 2023, she revealed her comeback plans. After winning the game, Wozniacki stated,
“It feels great. It was my first match in almost three years and I was a little rusty.”
