The new season of Selena + Chef will premiere its first three episodes on HBO Max on August 18 at 3am ET. The program will once again feature Selena Gomez taking cooking lessons from ten prominent celebrity chefs. Adrienne Cheatham is one of those celebrity chefs.
Cheatham previously competed on Top Chef Season 15, finishing second. She was also one of the subjects of the New York Times documentary Tastemakers, which looked at the problems faced by young aspiring chefs and other workers in the food industry. Before the season of Adrienne Cheatham’s HBO Max cooking show begins, here are a few extra things you should know about her.
Adrienne Cheatham, the “Pop-up Princess,” will star on Selena + Chef this season.
Dubbed the “Pop-up Princess,” Adrienne Cheatham is the originator of SundayBest, a pop-up series held at hidden spots throughout Harlem during which Cheatham prepares a four-course dinner for patrons. In addition to becoming a famous cook, she published her first book, Sunday Best: Cooking Up the Weekend Spirit Every Day. Her secret Sunday dinner gatherings inspired the title of her cookbook. Adrienne Cheatham graduated from the Institute of Culinary Education in New York. During her tenure there, she bartended at night and worked for other chefs in her spare time. After graduation, she started working as a commissary at La Bernardino, a restaurant with three Michelin stars. Her efforts were rewarded when, after eight years, she was promoted to Executive Sous Chef.
Since then, she has collaborated with a number of prominent chefs, including Eric Ripert and Marcus Samuelsson. She is also known for hosting special tasting menus, such as Red Rooster’s Black History Month menu. Cheatham made her Top Chef season 15 debut, where she advanced to the finals and finished second. Not much information has been released about her presence in the current HBO Max episode.
