The Mumbai Indians bowling team was considered one of the weakest at IPL 2023, especially without Jasprit Bumrah and Jofro Archer, but not anymore. Rookie Akash Madhwal wowed in the 2023 IPL Knockout, taking a 5-stroke (5-5) to eliminate the Lucknow Super Giants top and bottom order.
The most surprising thing is that Madhwal achieved this miraculous feat in the High Pressure Elimination game, and he just started playing redball cricket four years ago. Akash Madhwal’s Early Life and Career
- Akash Madhwal was born on November 25, 1993 in Roorkee, Uttarakhand, India.
- His father, Ghana Nand, served in the MES wing of the army in Roorkee and settled 30 years ago.
- Madhwal completed only his primary and secondary education in Roorkee and graduated in Civil Engineering from Roorkee Technical College.
- Then he quit his job to pursue his dream of playing cricket.
- Madhwala was hired by Royal Challengers Bangalore during IPL 2019 as a pitcher. MI did the same thing in 2022 IPl but was promoted to the main squad after Suryakumar Yadav’s injury. However, he did not play any IPL 2022 matches.
- In IPL 2023, Madhwal started late in IPL but immediately showed his ball skills.
- He racked up four goals in a major league game against Sunrisers Hyderabad and subsequently eliminated LSG’s first and middle order in the Elimination match.
