Meet Alexander Zverev’s girlfriend.

The professional tennis player is dating Sophia Thomall, a German who has been dating the athlete since 2020.

Since then, they have appeared together in public several times. Thomalla often posts sweet tributes to Zverev on social media, while keeping his profile mostly dedicated to tennis-related photos.

However, the professional tennis player — who achieved a career-best ATP ranking of No. 2 in 2022 — speaks highly of Thomalla during the interview, particularly stressing the importance of being in a relationship and having someone by your side, especially when it comes to your job as an athlete.

“I think it is always very important for tennis players who you have next to you. Sophia is someone who gives me peace and security,” Zverev told a German tennis magazine in December 2021. “I’m playing extremely well with her behind me and I hope it will be like that next year, maybe even better. I haven’t achieved all my goals yet.”

Win or lose, Thomalla always shows his support for Zverev on Instagram. “Lost, but still won,” the model and actress wrote alongside the photo of the couple’s selfie. “You are the greatest…and the winner!” she wrote alongside another.

She was born and raised in Germany

Thomella is German, born in East Berlin on October 6, 1989. Her parents, mom Simone Thomalla and dad André Vetters, are actors.

During her childhood, apart from Berlin, she lived in Cologne, Kleinmachnow and Gelsenkirchen. She later returned to her hometown where she grew up.

She is a model and an actress

Similar to her parents, Thomella pursued a career in the entertainment industry as a model, actress and television host. She rose to fame in her native country, making several appearances in German TV shows and films.

Among her many credits is hosting a local adaptation Are you the one?dating game that premiered on MTV in the US in 2014. The series brings together 20 single men and women looking for love.

In addition to television and film, Thomella entertains her million and more followers on Instagram. She often posts photos of her travels, career updates, modeling campaigns, love life and other daily happenings.

Thomella has supported Zverev at various tennis tournaments for years and can often be seen cheering from the stands as he plays on the court. Recently, the model accompanied her beau to the 2023 US Open.

Thomella also praises Zverev’s work outside of tennis. In December 2022, she posted a sweet tribute on Instagram in honor of his charity. “@alexzverev123 you are beautiful inside and out. What you do for kids with diabetes is amazing. I couldn’t be more proud of you and your @alexanderzverevfoundation 😊” she captioned the post.

On International Women’s Day in March 2023, she paid tribute to Zverev with a caption on Instagram combined with a picture on her PDA. “I can do whatever I want on International Women’s Day. And I want to appreciate this guy, 🤩,” she wrote.

She was previously in a relationship in a high position

Thomalla was linked to Gavin Rossdale in 2017, which was the first romance for the rocker after his split from Gwen Stefani.

He was seen kissing and walking hand-in-hand with Thomall in London in April of that year. “They are friends, they were introduced by a mutual friend,” a Rossdale source told PEOPLE at the time.

The two made their relationship official on Instagram the following July. “Having fun in #Reno,” Rossdale captioned a photo of the pair at the time in a now-deleted Instagram post.

Thomalla and Rossdale were in a relationship for just over a year before they broke up.

Before that, she was married to Norwegian singer Andy LaPlegu. They got married in March 2016 and announced their divorce in May 2017.

“All the men I had affairs with broke up with me because they couldn’t take it anymore,” she said. Grace magazine at the time of her divorce. She said she was “extremely independent”, explaining “how many men don’t like that in the long run”.
