Amanda Mammana wowed the judges on the 17th season of America’s Got Talent with her singing skills (AGT). The singer-songwriter wrote about her own challenges in her heartfelt original song, which moved the judges to tears. Her audition aired on NBC on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at 8:00 PM ET. The standout candidate was one of several featured in Episode 8.
The AGT contestant said on stage that she has a speech impediment, which has made life difficult for her. However, there was no speech impediment until she started performing. This surprised judges Simon Cowell, Sofia Vergara, Howie Mandel and Heidi Klum, as well as the live audience, who applauded wildly after seeing her skill.

Amanda’s speech impairment was evident to the audience and viewers at home as soon as she stepped on stage and was asked her name. The Connecticut-born 19-year-old admitted she had a speech impediment and talked about the difficulties she experienced as a child. She stated:
“It was absolutely something I was ashamed of and hid from. But I discovered that when I sing, I don’t stutter.”
The AGT contestant then announced that she had decided to play her own song about the struggles she was facing. However, the singer said that if she could change her past, she wouldn’t because it’s what made her who she is today. Amanda’s song wowed the judges and audience, earning her a standing ovation. The judges praised her stamina and courage, which struck a chord with both the live audience and television viewers. The singer then passed to the next round.
