Who Is Andrea Bocelli's Wife? All About Veronica Berti Bocelli

Singer Andrea Bocelli and his wife Veronica Berti Bocelli dated for over a decade before tying the knot in 2014.

Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli and his wife Veronica Berti Bocelli know a thing or two about making a relationship last.

The couple, who met in 2002 when Andrea sang her a special aria, dated for more than a decade before tying the knot. Now Veronica works as Andrea’s manager — and even an occasional duet partner!

Ten years after meeting, the couple had a daughter, Virginia, and officially married two years later, in 2014. Veronica is also stepmother to Andrea’s two sons from a previous marriage, Amos and Matteo.

According to Veronica, the secret of their long partnership is simple: they depend on each other. “We have been living together for almost 22 years and, at least at the beginning, we spent 24 hours a day [together]” Veronica told PEOPLE in March 2023. “Sometimes we don’t necessarily agree on the path, but we always agree on the goal. We rely on each other.”

“A successful relationship between two people is an art,” wrote Andrea in a 2014 story Guard, adding that music plays an important role in his life with Veronica. “Chemistry is at play. There has to be a fatal attraction or boredom takes over, but the art lies in preserving that chemical fatal attraction and keeping it alive.”

Andrea and Veronica wasted no time in falling in love; he even serenaded her when they first met.

“Veronica and I met at a party 12 years ago and I was in awe of her voice and the feel of her skin. I sang my first aria to her that night. It was a piece called ‘Occhi Di Fata (Fairy eyes)’,” wrote Andrea Guard 2014 “Everybody was there; it was a really beautiful moment between us … The marriage actually started when we met.” Andrea said that they even moved in together that night.

Veronica was 18 at the time, but Andrea said the 25-year age difference was never a problem for the couple. “I think the 25-year difference made it easier, not harder. Big age gaps are a tradition in my family – my own father and mother have one,” Andrea explained in Guard.

There was no rush down the aisle for the couple, who dated for more than a decade before tying the knot in 2014. Andrea was previously married to Enrico Cenzatti from 1992 to 2002 and has two sons from that relationship, Amos and Matteo.

“I got so used to not being married that it was weird when we finally did it,” Veronica explained of their eventual marriage in Guard. “We called each other ‘companion’, but that sounded too mundane. A woman is forever.”

According to the musicians, their physical connection is extremely important. “If the bedroom door opens the world to something beautiful and interesting, then love will last. If the bedroom door opens to something boring or uninteresting, it won’t last,” he said.

In the late 1990s, Andrea bought Villa Alpemare, a pink seaside villa on the coast of Tuscany. The spacious property used to be a hotel, and Andrea has completely restored it to its former glory. “Since I travel so often, the best vacation I can imagine is always within the walls of my house, surrounded by the love of my family and friends who come to visit me,” said the singer. The longtime couple took fans on a scenic trip through Italy with their 2023 film Journey: Andrea Bocelli’s musical special, which features the pair traveling through their homeland on horseback, stopping to perform with artists such as Tori Kelly and Tauren Wells. According to Veronica, the idea was born during the COVID-19 pandemic due to Andrea’s restlessness.

“Right after the pandemic, what Andrea really wanted was to just ride the horse and not stop until they both got tired,” Veronica told PEOPLE in March 2023. “We’re traveling all over the world and we don’t necessarily know what’s right next to us, so it was very unusual to see beautiful places that the rest of the world visits.”

While Andrea is an experienced rider, Veronica was less so, but persevered through the 150+ mile journey. “This showed me the importance of the saying ‘If there’s a will, there’s a way,’ and that the woman next to me has tremendous willpower,” Andrea told PEOPLE of his wife’s dedication.
