Career
Michael and Ridgeley created the duet Wham! In 1981, after years of performing in numerous musical ensembles, the most famous of which is The Executive. Ridgeley played guitar and was a backup vocalist for Michael, who was the main performer and primary songwriter. They contacted several record companies with a handmade demo tape—recorded in Ridgeley’s living room in 10 minutes—and signed to Innervision Records (distributed by CBS Records). The pair joined Epic Records/CB after one album.
