Who Is Anthony Edwards' Girlfriend, Shannon? All About Her Relationship With the NBA Star

Anthony Edwards has had the support of his girlfriend Shannon throughout his NBA career.

The social media influencer posted the couple’s first public photo on Instagram in 2020 and has since been frequently seen sitting courtside at Edwards’ Minnesota Timberwolves games. On January 21, 2023 — a few days before Shannon’s 29th birthday — he scored a season-high 44 points, including eight 3-pointers, in the Timberwolves’ win over the Houston Rockets and dedicated the performance to his girlfriend.

“My girlfriend’s birthday is for [a few] day man. She was leaving the country so I had to put on a show for her, Edwards told ESPN before blowing a kiss to Shannon.

Recently, the couple became parents of a daughter. During a Timberwolves game on March 2, Edwards left at halftime to be with Shannon as she gave birth to their baby girl. His girlfriend also shares son Krue with rapper Chief Keef.

Now Edwards’ life and career are being chronicled in a Netflix documentary series Starting at 5, which follows NBA players during the 2023-2024 season.

So who is Anthony Edwards’ girlfriend? Here’s everything there is to know about Shannon and her relationship with the Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard.

They went public for the first time in 2020

2020 was a big year for Edwards as he became the first overall pick in the NBA Draft, eventually leading to him being named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team. 2020 was also the year he and his girlfriend Shannon announced their relationship on Instagram.

“Together forever every problem you have I solve it ✌🏽💕,” Shannon captioned a photo of her and Edwards hugging.

She often sits courtside at Edwards’ games in Minnesota

Part of Shannon’s life as an influencer is showing what she’s up to for her roughly 120,000 Instagram followers. She can be seen many times in different outfits sitting courtside cheering on Edwards at Timberwolves games in Minnesota.

After Edwards’ final game of the 2023 season, she posted a series of pictures of herself and her son Krue sitting courtside for the game, then referencing the Timberwolves’ upcoming NBA playoff game against the Los Angeles Lakers. One picture showed her wearing a navy and white jacket with the words “A. Edwards”, “Wolves” and “Minnesota Basketball” printed on the back.

“Some [heroes] don’t wear capes, season 3 🎬 ! LA next 📍,” Shannon wrote on Instagram.

She shares her support for Edwards on social media

Edwards has gone viral on numerous occasions for his high dunks and hook shots. Shannon expressed her amazement both in person and on social media.

In January 2024, Edwards pulled off one of his most viral moments to date when he threw an alley-oop pass to himself off the backboard before catching it in mid-air for a two-handed dunk.

Shannon shared a video of the game on her Instagram stories, writing “Oh my gosh” to Essentially Sports.

She also traveled to Paris in the summer of 2024 to cheer on Edwards at the 2024 Olympics, sharing multiple photos on Instagram from her seat in the stands. At the games, Edwards helped the U.S. men’s national team win a gold medal while also being the youngest member of the team.

Shannon and Edwards had a baby shower in February 2024 that was attended by many of Edwards’ teammates

After announcing in December 2023 that they were expecting their first child together, Shannon and Edwards hosted a lavish shower in February. The event featured white and rose gold with balloons, two massive tables with seating arrangements and rose gold macaroons with their daughter’s initials “AJE” written on them.

Some of those in attendance included many of Edwards’ Minnesota Timberwolves teammates such as All-Star center Karl-Anthony Towns, Kyle Anderson, Jordan McLaughlin and Luke Garza. The video also shows Edwards and Shannon dancing and taking pictures together.

They have one daughter together

Shannon and Edwards welcomed their daughter in March 2024. Edwards left a Timberwolves game at halftime to be there for her birth on March 2.

After Edwards’ Timberwolves swept the Phoenix Suns — led by Kevin Durant and Devin Booker — 4-0 in the first round of the 2024 NBA playoffs next month, Shannon shared a picture of Edwards cuddling with their daughter at home on her Instagram stories.

“She was waiting for him to come home to do it😂”, she wrote with the photo.

Shannon’s younger brother also celebrated the baby’s arrival on Instagram, writing, “Congratulations to my Big Sis and Ant..!! My niece is officially here and healthy 🙌🏽🫶🏼💕💫 I’m UNC x2 🤣🤣🕺🏼 this celebration was definitely 1 for the books.! Can’t wait to meet your little girl AJE…!🤞🏽.”

She also shares a son, Krue, with rapper Chief Keef

In addition to her newborn daughter, Shannon is also mom to son Krue Carter, who she shares with rapper Chief Keef.

She often posts pictures of her son on Instagram and even created her own page. Her Instagram bio reads: “I just love being a mom.”

In the years that Edwards and Shannon have been together, Shannon’s son Krue seems to have taken over for Edwards in some ways. According to ESPN, Edwards was a promising young football player, but when he was 9 years old, he decided that basketball seemed more fun and switched courses.

Not only is Krue a multi-sport athlete like Edwards, but Shannon even posted a video on Instagram of her son hitting the winning buzzer beater. Krue ran down the court before leaning forward for a 3-point shot as the ball bounced uncertainly around the rim before going in at the buzzer.

“a different ‘BUZZER BEATER KRUE’ time,” Shannon wrote on Instagram.

After the buzzer, Krue ran around the court celebrating and beating his chest — similar to how Edwards often celebrates — before being embraced by his teammates.

Shannon also posted Krue’s flag football moments on Instagram, which often show him outmaneuvering the other team. In 2022, when Krue won his first football championship, she posted on Instagram that she was proud of him for his many achievements.

“WOW what an achievement out of many more, #1 in your league [and] you were a part of that greatness,” Shannon wrote in the caption of the post. “I’m so proud of you KrüeKrüe. I love you before I met you [and] I will always love you unconditionally until the end [breath]. You know that! From acceleration in school.. star student every week. The best reader in the class. I’m sooo proud of you. #1.trophy#1.football of the year.”
