Carlo Vives graduated from Jorge Tadeo Lozano University, where he studied public relations. He was already deeply involved in music, having been a member of several bands and performing in the theater.
In 1982, he made his acting debut in Tiempo Sin Huella, a Colombian television series. There was no turning back in his career after that. His performance of a local art form, Wvallenato, became popular and successful.
