Who Is Christian Slater's Wife? All About Brittany Lopez

Christan Slater and his wife Brittany Lopez have been married for over a decade.

The Blink twice the actor first met Lopez while on vacation in her home state of Florida. The couple dated for several years before tying the knot in two intimate ceremonies in December 2013.

Slater and Lopez have since welcomed two children, a daughter and a son, who join the actor’s two older children, Jaden and Eliana.

While the two keep their relationship mostly private, Slater will occasionally share anecdotes about their family life. Lopez also regularly attends red carpet events with the actor, including the 2018 Golden Globes and the Los Angeles premiere of Slater’s film Unfrozen in 2024

While Slater didn’t take home the Best Supporting Actor in a TV Series award at the 2018 Golden Globes, he took the moment to post a sweet tribute to his wife on Instagram. “So honored to attend the @goldenglobes with the most phenomenal woman on the face of the planet,” he wrote in the caption. “Every moment I’m with you, I’m a winner. ❤️❤️❤️.”

She and Slater met in Florida

Slater and Lopez first met while the actor was vacationing at a resort in the Florida Keys in 2010. During an appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon in March 2013, Slater opened up about how he initially thought Lopez was engaged to someone else.

Slater said he was having breakfast when “this girl came walking in with another lady, a little older lady, and I was sitting in my usual place eating my oatmeal that morning,” according to Today.

He continued, “This place, I guess, was actually famous for people begging each other. It was very, very nice. So she’s there with that old lady and the next thing I know, she’s down on one knee and proposing to that old lady.”

Slater then told host Jimmy Fallon that he went to congratulate the couple when he realized his mistake. “It turned out it was her aunt and she was just trying to help her aunt capture the beauty and romance of the park. … The next thing I remembered, we were hanging out in the Everglades,” he said.

Lopez attended Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, where she studied literature and economics Miami Herald.

She previously worked as director of corporate development at the North Miami Museum of Contemporary Art, but when Lopez and Slater first met, she was working at an auction house in Miami, according to Esquire.

She grew up in Florida

Lopez grew up in Florida as one of three girls Miami Herald. He has two sisters, including a twin who works in medicine. Her father is Albert Lopez, owner of General Asphalt.

Despite growing up in normal circumstances, Lopez said Miami Herald that she “had to bring in a Hollywood actor to find someone grounded in Miami.”

Slater proposed to Lopez on a trip to Maine

Slater popped the question to Lopez on a trip to Maine in 2012, according to Miami Herald. The actor got down on one knee as the couple strolled along the beach.

“We walked. I got down on one knee. I became nervous. I messed up… I said ‘Would you be mine’. I had to clarify,” he told the newspaper.

Lopez’s family was also on the way, and Slater included them in the proposal process.

After asking her father for permission to propose, the actor helped Lopez’s twin sister size an engagement ring he found in Russia.

She married Slater in 2013

The couple first tied the knot at a courthouse in Miami in early December 2013. Lopez and Slater visited the courthouse to obtain a marriage license and instead tied the knot in an impromptu ceremony.

On Christmas Day, the two hosted another ceremony with close family and friends. While co-hosting He lives with Kelly in December 2016, Slater opened up about his wedding, which took place at a bed and breakfast in Illinois.

“We did it on Christmas Day to keep it kind of intimate, that way, not everyone could come,” he said. “We had a big engagement party for, like, family and the whole thing, but there were actually about 14 people at our wedding. So it was very small, very intimate and very beautiful.”

Slater and Lopez have two children whose names have not yet been revealed.

They had their first child together, a daughter, in August 2019. Their second child, a son, was born in July 2024. Slater is also the father of two more children, Jaden and Eliana, whom he welcomed with ex-wife Ryan Haddon.

Speaking to PEOPLE in August 2024, Slater said he’s “a lot more present” while raising his two younger children.

“I think I was more afraid of it when I went around and I was a little more confused, and I was very distracted,” he said. “And now, that’s all I really think about, and all I really care about, and all I want to be around. I’m happy to be in that situation.”

Slater once gave Lopez a stuffed raccoon

Slater once gave Lopez a Christmas present she’ll never forget.

During the performance at The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in June 2015, Slater revealed that he had given his wife a stuffed raccoon.

“She said she wanted a raccoon, like a live raccoon,” he said. “She heard about someone who had a pet raccoon and thought that would be really wonderful, and I said, well, obviously we’re not going to get a rabid raccoon. You know, we’re not going to run it around the house. We have kids… it would be funny.”

Slater added: “So I thought, well, this is going to be a really sweet replacement if I get her as a stuffed raccoon. It didn’t go well.”

In January 2016, Slater won his first Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series for his role in Mr. Robot. During his acceptance speech, the actor made sure to give a cute shout out to his wife.

“My God, thank you for making me the happiest man in the world,” Slater said. “You make all my dreams come true.”

The couple walked the red carpet in matching black outfits, with Slater in a traditional tuxedo and Lopez in a long-sleeved lace dress.
