Mick Cronin, a native of Cincinnati, grew up with his brother Dan Cronin, who is now a professional handicapper. Dan, like his brother Mick, played college basketball, but chose to pursue a career in horse racing instead of professional basketball. Mick Cronin is the head coach of the UCLA Bruins men’s basketball team at the University of California.
He began his career in 1991 as an assistant coach at Woodward High. Mick held the same role at the University of Cincinnati from 1996 to 2001 and the University of Louisville from 2001 to 2003. Similarly, his career took off in 2003 when he became the head coach of the Murray State Racers. Furthermore, the head coach had an impactful thirteen-season career with the Cincinnati Bearcats from 2006 to 2019. During his tenure in Cincinnati, he led the club to nine consecutive NCAA Tournament berths and two AAC titles. Furthermore, Mick’s outstanding coaching abilities have earned him several trophies, including OVC Coach of the Year and Pac-12 Coach of the Year.

Mick Cronin’s brother, Dan Cronin, is a professional horse racing handicapper with over 30 years experience. Interestingly, horse racing significantly affects the life of the Cronin brothers. Growing up in Cincinnati, they often accompanied their father, Hep Cronin, who worked at the River Downs racetrack. Undoubtedly, their father instilled an early interest in horse racing in them.
Mike never raced professionally, but his older brother Dan did. Dan now runs FatBaldGuyRacing.com, a prominent online sports betting forum. In addition, he works as a loan officer at Cronin Financial, having previously worked in various professions. He also holds a BA in Accounting and Business from Bethel University.

Mick Cronin, born July 17, 1971, is the third child of Peggy and Harold “Hep” Cronin. Besides him, they have a son, Dan, and a daughter, Kelly Cronin. Unfortunately, his mother died, leaving a vacuum in his heart. Unfortunately, she died in 2005 after a long battle with cancer. That being said, Mick’s father was a source of strength for his children, helping them through life’s arduous journey.
His father, Hep Cronin, a high school coach, won more than 400 games in his career. He also worked as an employee at River Downs Racetrack, a teacher and a baseball scout for the Atlanta Braves. Furthermore, Mick’s school experience includes attending La Salle High School, where he played actively as a point guard under the guidance of his father. He later studied at the University of Cincinnati and earned a degree in history in 1996.
