On Saturday, July 1, Ellie Breaux was crowned Miss Texas 2023 at the Charles W. Eisemann Center for the Performing Arts in Richardson, Texas. At the 86th edition of the tournament, she defeated 56 other women to earn the coveted title, belt, crown and a $20,000 scholarship. Ellie Breaux was born in Houston and was previously Miss Tarrant County. She took to the Miss America Texas Instagram account after her triumph and posted a touching message:
“I still can’t believe this is happening.” I have to keep checking myself in the mirror to make sure I’m not dreaming.”
Ellie Breaux not only won the Miss Texas 2023 pageant, but also won the preliminaries of the prestigious pageant, such as evening gown and talent show. Breaux performed a dance and rhythmic gymnastics performance to Lady Gaga’s Top Gun: Maverick Hold My Hand theme during the latter.

22-year-old Miss Texas 2023 Ellie Breaux graduated from the University of North Texas last month with a bachelor’s degree in marketing, focusing on retail, global marketing and business policy. She is currently pursuing her longtime ambition to become a fashion designer.
Ellie, the daughter of a Houston police officer, started a community service effort called “Community Cops,” which tries to bridge the gap between police officers and ordinary citizens:
“My goal is for our kids to see police officers as heroes, not as adversaries,” she said after her recent victory.
After the coronation she added:
“I want to unite Texas…I come from a law enforcement background, and there is so much misunderstanding between police officers and their communities. And I’m working hard to bridge that divide so we can unite Texas and, ultimately, America.”
Ellie Breaux started competing in pageants as a freshman in college and never expected to compete on such big platforms as Miss Texas or Miss America. But when she realized that participating in pageants would help her build her community service program, she couldn’t stop. She hopes to pay off some of her student debt and earn a master’s degree in fashion design with the $20,000 scholarship she earned at Miss Texas 2023. Ellie Breaux worked as a lifeguard at her high school for four years and continues to do so year-round. college.
During the COVID-19 outbreak, Elli Breaux worked as a personal shopper at HEB and a lifeguard at a water park in Houston, according to her LinkedIn page. She has worked as a part-time marketing assistant for Varsity, Terry Costa and Sherri Hill, as well as a model for the University. She is also a professional ballet dancer and holder of the title of the local Miss Texas organization.
Breaux was named Miss Tarrant County 2022, Miss Park Cities in September 2021 and Miss Keller in February 2019. Lamesa resident and former Miss DeWitt County Madison Matlock was named first runner-up at Miss Texas 2023 on July 1. She received the $10,000 award as a recent graduate of Southern Methodist University.
