Fabien Frankel on his Dragon House character Ser Criston Cole
Fabien Frankel is an English-French-Iraqi actor who appeared in the HBO drama Ser Criston Cole. Although little is known about Frankel’s acting career, he has starred in episodes such as NYPD Blue, The Serpent, and An Uncandid Portrait. He also appeared in the 2019 romantic comedy Last Christmas. Criston Cole was the champion of the jousting in House of the Dragons, which served as a guide to meet people and define the setting.
Frankel revealed that Criston Cole’s character will appear in more than one episode during an interview with TV Line. Frankel described the character as “brave” as he sought the favor of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen after defeating his uncle, Daemon Targaryen, in a jousting contest.
He stated:
He seems like a brave person to me. And being from a low income household, I believe there is definitely a feeling.
Frankel continued:
In the world of blonde wigs, you have a dark-haired guy with a different skin color than everyone else. So I believe there is a sense of loneliness. As a result, he gains a certain amount of trust, which allows him to beg (for the princess’s favor).
Frankel mentioned Cole’s history as a commoner. He is from Dorne, a nation where House Martell and the Lannisters had a strained relationship in the Game of Thrones series. The mention of Dorne also brings to mind one of the series’ most savage battles, between Oberyn Martell and Gregor Clegane, aka The Mountain. It is not clear how Frankel’s Ser Criston Cole will be sent to the Dragon House.
