Issa Rae and her husband Louis Diame are going strong.

However, the longtime couple, who tied the knot in 2021, are keeping it very private at Rae’s request.

“I get so much feedback on everything,” she said Marie Claire in 2018. “The only thing I don’t need feedback on is who I sleep with.”

In September 2021, Rae reiterated the importance of keeping her personal life private in an interview with YOURSELF.

“There’s something really nice about having a part of me that no one knows about or can talk about except for the people who are a part of my life,” Rae said. “Self-care had a private piece that was just for me.”

Diame made a comedic but brief appearance in the first season of Rae’s popular YouTube series, The Mis-Adventures of Awkward Black Girl.

Prequel to her hit HBO series Uncertain, “The Date” features Rae on a date with a white guy. When Rae walks in, Diame’s character gives her a sideways glance, despite being on a date with a white woman.

He and Rae got engaged in 2019

Engagement rumors started swirling after Rae appeared on the cover Essence she wears a diamond ring, but the couple never addressed the speculation. However, Rae’s Uncertain Actors Jay Ellis and Yvonne Orji confirmed Rae’s engagement to Diame on the 2019 NAACP Image Awards red carpet.

“We are very excited about her,” Orji said Party tonight.

“We all found out in different ways because we’re all on different text threads,” Ellis added. “We talk at different times, so we all find out at different times in different ways.”

Despite never confirming their engagement, Rae revealed via Instagram that she and Diame tied the knot on July 25, 2021. She shared (and later deleted) a bunch of glamorous wedding photos from her destination wedding in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, France.

“It was just a wonderful experience,” he said Golubčići the actress later told Tamron Hall. “People tell you everything goes by fast and they’re right. But my thing was that it was fun. At the end of the day, it was just a big party. And it was a lot of fun. I feel so blessed to be surrounded by people who have taken time just for them to come and celebrate, and that’s something I’ll cherish for the rest of my life.”

For the wedding, Diame wore an elegant and chic Dolce & Gabbana red velvet suit with embroidered black lapels.

Rae wore a strapless ivory Vera Wang Haute custom ball gown with a sweetheart neckline, Chantilly lace and hand-stitched crystal beading. The comedian styled her hair in a low ponytail with diamond earrings and a chapel-length veil.

He is always on the red carpet

Although the couple has kept their relationship private, Diame has joined Rae at various red carpet events over the years, including in 2016. Uncertain premiere in 2017 Essence Black Women In Hollywood Awards, where Rae was honored with the Vanguard Award.

In March 2022, Diame made his first red carpet appearance as a married man. The couple attended the Critics Choice Awards in Los Angeles, where Rae was nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for Uncertain.

Diame also accompanied his wife to the 74th and 75th Primetime Emmy Awards.

He supported Rae when she got the key to Inglewood

In February 2022, Rae became the first person to receive a key to Inglewood in the 114 years since the city was founded. Diame followed his wife to the ceremony, where Mayor James T. Butts awarded the key to “Issa Rae, Queen of Inglewood.”

“I’m a little emotional, I’m trying to be a thug right now,” Rae said in her speech. “The mayor really blew me away because this is the first key in 114 years.
