Michelle’s then-NFL Network colleague Rich Eisen introduced her to Joe in the fall of 2012. During a 2016 interview with The Ringer, Eisen told the outlet that he called Michelle and explained that someone in his cubicle wanted her phone number. She had a boyfriend at the time, but she was interested in a mysterious person.

After Eisen made the connection, Joe “gently pushed the point home” by texting her: “Still living with that boyfriend of yours? Well, that’s stupid.”
Michelle eventually ended things with her boyfriend and later started dating Joe around the time of the Super Bowl in 2013. She revealed that her initial impression of him was wrong, saying that her current husband is “the furthest thing from being arrogant or self-righteous as a human being. could be. I mean, the complete and opposite end of the spectrum.”
