John Zimmer was born and raised in Greenwich, Connecticut. In 2006, Zimmer graduated from Cornell University with a degree in hotel administration. John was a member of Sigma Pi fraternity. After graduating, Zimmer began working as a real estate finance analyst at Lehman Brothers in New York.
Fortunately, the company soon filed for bankruptcy, but Zimmer left the company early. Later in 2007, Zimmer and Logan Green founded ride-sharing startup platform Zimride, which had locations on college campuses across the city. He performed this while he was employed at Lehman Brothers.
