The life journey of a farmer’s son from India who is on the list makes for a very inspiring story.

The man comes from a farming family in India. It was in 1984 when the man founded the KPR mill.

In 2013, the man expanded his company to sugar production. Later, the company also started selling men’s underwear brand, Faso, in 2019. It is interesting that the company has a base of 30,000 employees, and over 90 percent of them are women. The company is run by Ramasamy together with his two brothers.

KPR Mill is located in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The company produces cotton yarn, polyester yarn and knitted garments. Ethanol and sugar are also products produced by the company.

Few people know that KPR’s garment factory was also there in Ethiopia. However, the company had to close due to civil unrest.

KPR Mill produces 128 million garments annually, from sleepwear to sportswear, and these clothes make up the stores of Marks & Spencer, Walmart and H&M, according to the Forbes website.

KP Ramasamy is app (father) to his employees

The story began when a young mill worker in the late 90s asked Chairman KP Ramasamy to help her complete her education. This reminded KP Ramasamy of the void of not being able to complete his own education in his life. The man could only study up to high school and dropped out of college because his father, a farmer by profession, could not afford a full education for all four of his sons.

When a worker in his company invited him to help her finish her education, the man discussed it with his brothers and company management, with the desire to help her. In order to help not only her, but also all female workers of the factory to complete their education, a correspondence program was made possible for more than 50 female workers of the company in the factory. The result? The workers passed the +2 exams with immense dedication and enjoyed the fruits of their labor.

Because of this, KP Ramasamy was affectionately called ace app (father) by his employees. In an interview, the president recalled the incident and expressed how the group decided to continue doing it every year.

Currently, more than 27,000 women have successfully completed their education through this decision. Some of these women also completed their MBA degrees while working at the KPR Mill located in Tirupur and Coimbatore. Don’t miss out, some of these women also became nurses, while some others ended up in IT companies. Many, however, also returned to work at the KPR Mill.

KPR Mill headed by KP Ramasamy has never disappointed its employees.

How did the company survive the pandemic?

Even during the difficult times of the pandemic, KP Ramasamy stuck to his mantra of keeping employees happy. In 2020, when a pan-India lockdown has disrupted industries across the country, forcing them to lay off their workers, KPR Mill has given its employees a choice. In the selection, it was stated that, in case they stay, Mlin will provide them with shelter, food, entertainment and full salary. They have 12 factories and all of them have sports facilities, a cinema hall and an auditorium. In such a situation, all their employees decided to stay only in KPR. The company currently has over 25,000 employees.
