Jessica, Layshia’s wife, recently had a C-section after a 29-hour labor and carrying the baby for more than 41 weeks.
Layshia got some alone time with her first child while Jessica recovered. After being soothed by Layshia, the infant, identified as Infant C and mentioned as using the pronouns they/them, reportedly responded by gurgling and squirming. The overjoyed parents arrived at the hospital without a definitive decision on their child’s name, intending to make a decision after the baby’s birth. However, two more days passed before they finally decided on a name. They decided to keep the name a secret and not reveal it to the world. The birth of baby C, according to Layshia, had a huge impact on her, reinforcing their commitment to striving for a more equal society. She expressed their intention to raise a child with a perspective that embraces gender expansiveness.
