Martin Clunes is known and loved for his portrayal of tough doctor Martin Ellingham in the hit ITV medical series, as well as starring in the crime thriller, follow. Who is the father of the famous Martin Clunes?
Martin Clunes’ father was actor and theater manager Alec Clunes, who appeared in a number of films between 1940 and 1963.
The show business seemed to thrive in the family because Alec, full name Alexander Sheriff de Moro Clunes, was also born into a family of theater lovers in 1912.

He began his stage career with Ben Greet’s troupe before moving to the Old Vic in 1934 and went on to play many Shakespearean roles.

In 1942, Alec assumed the management of the Art Theater in London, where he remained until 1950.

For his film credits, the actor starred as Governor Woodes Rogers in the first three episodes of the 1956 American television series. thiefand featured in several war movies, including Tavern, Sailor ba And Let George do it!
He also appeared in the 1955 Shakespeare adaptation Richard III with Laurence Olivier, where he played Lord Hastings, as well as the 1956 crime drama tiger in smoke, in which he plays a doctor. Commissioner Oates.

Before meeting Martin’s mother, Alec was married to actress Stella Richman. The couple later divorced and the actor married Daphne Gyllian Acott, who was born Martin in 1961.
Alec sadly passed away from lung cancer on March 13, 1970, at the age of 57.

Martin’s relationship with his father
In an interview with The Telegraph in 2012, Martin said his father was a “suffering soul”.
He said: “I continued to discover things about him as I got older. Yes, I think he was probably tortured quite a bit. I think he made a lot of people awkward. He was a bit of a jerk. [expletive] Actually. I don’t think he’s very good to my mother.”
What is Manhunt about?
The three-part series, which first aired in 2019, is an ITV crime drama based on the 2004 police investigation into the arrest of serial killer Levi Bellfield. The case begins when a French student is found dead on Twickenham Green and Detective Chief Inspector Colin Sutton is tasked with investigating what happened.
