Biography of Michael Iaconelli
In Runnemede, New Jersey, on June 17, 1972, Michael Iaconelli was born. Michael grew up with his grandparents, uncles and aunts as part of an extended family. While on summer trips in the Pocono Mountains, Michael Iaconelli was introduced to fishing for the first time. He taught others fishing techniques other than bass fishing, so his travels seem to have been significant.

After graduating high school, Michael Iaconelli signed up for “Top Rod Bassmaster,” marking his entry into competitive bass fishing. After three years of fishing as a Top Rod Bassmaster, in 1992 he turned to the professional circuit. Tommy Biffle, a famous angler, was drawn to Michael Iaconelli’s first event, the North Carolina Top 100.
Michael Iaconelli participated in the North Carik Top 100 in 1994 and went fishing on Lake Norman. His first bass boat, the Rangers 374, was a success. He started participating in Red Man and (Bass Anglers Sportsman Society) BASS after winning Rangers 374. He started fishing the Invitational Tournament of Buggs Island with Michael Iaconelli. Iaconelli won one of the contests by breaking the day and the federation that claimed the day at 18 pounds.
Iaconelli qualified to compete in the Red River Bassmaster Federation Nationals in 1999. He ended up placing first and that opened the door for him to compete in the Bassmaster Classic, which was held in New Orleans on the Louisiana Delta. Iaconelli, who managed to catch a total of 39 lbs. and 12 oz., finished sixth. In September of that year, Iaconelli won the pro division of the Bassmaster Vermont Top 150. Iaconelli won a $100,000 check in the Lake Chaplain contest, landing 61 pounds or more.
Iaconelli won the 2002 season opener at Lake Seminole to capture the tour-level championship. Iaconelli is a well-known television personality and host of the IKE show, a panel where successful athletes and well-known bass fishing experts participate.
