Biography of Rocsi Diaz
Rocsi Diaz was born on November 17, 1981 in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. She later moved to New Orleans with her family as a child. She is of Honduran and Chilean descent. Rocsi revealed on 106 & Park on July 30, 2009 that she suffered from anorexia during middle and high school due to her love of cheerleading.
She graduated from West Jefferson High School in Harvey, Louisiana. Nicholls State University awarded her a bachelor’s degree.

While growing up in New Orleans, she began her career as a host at 97.9 The Beat, the city’s most popular urban radio station. Rocsi developed a distinct, street style that caught the attention of Hot 97.7 in Boston, where she eventually worked as a DJ. She moved to Chicago in 2004, where she worked as a midday DJ at Power 92 WPWX-FM, where she was nicknamed “The Midday Mami”.
Diaz appeared as a contestant on MTV’s Fear in 2000. AJ Calloway and Free left BET on July 28, 2005, and were replaced by Big Tigger and Julissa Bermudez. They parted ways, and on July 6, 2006, Rocsi was named co-host of BET’s 106 & Park alongside Terrence J. The show is viewed by over 85 million people in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Africa, the Caribbean, and Japan.
She and co-host Terrence J filmed the premiere in Japan and appeared at the MTV Video Music Awards Japan. Rocsi appeared in Def Jam: Icon 2007 as a correspondent for BET News, but only in TV scenes and not in battle mode.
Diaz joined Entertainment Tonight on November 19, 2012 as a daytime contributor and weekend co-anchor. Diaz was fired from the series on September 17, 2014, and was replaced by CNN’s Nischelle Turner.
Diaz joined CNN’s HLN on January 23, 2015. She is a Los Angeles contributor to their show The Daily Share, which airs from 12pm to 5pm EST. In August 2015, she returned home with cameras to mark the tenth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, showing how her childhood street had been stripped of its homes.
Diaz is replacing two-time host Amy Paffrath as host of VH1’s Dating Naked for its third season. On the USA Network, Mike “The Miz” Mizanin handled the play-by-play for Cannonball, while Diaz provided color commentary. In 2021, she took over as host of the new Fox reality competition Alter Ego.
