Alito was born in Trenton, New Jersey. Alito was educated at Yale Law School and Princeton University after growing up in Hamilton Township, New Jersey. He also serves as a judge on the US District Court for the District of New Jersey. American lawyer and judge Samuel Anthony Alito is a member of the Supreme Court of the United States as an associate justice. After Antonin Scalia, he is the second Italian-American to serve as a justice on the US Supreme Court and the eleventh Catholic on that court.

From 1999 to 2004, Alito served as an adjunct professor at Seton Hall University School of Law in Newark, where he taught constitutional law and a unique course on terrorism and civil liberties. The Federal Society, a group of libertarian and conservative lawyers and law students interested in conservative legal theory, includes Alito as a member. In the fall of 2011 and summer of 2012, Alito was a visiting lecturer at Duke University School of Law, where he taught a course on current issues in constitutional interpretation.
