Sean Lowe was born in Arlington, Texas on November 16, 1983. Jay Lowe (father) and Sherry Lowe (mother) are his parents (mother). Both are devout Christians. Jay grew up in Irving, Texas. Shay, his older sister, is his only sibling. He has always loved playing football since he was a child. Lowe graduated from Lamar High School. He also belonged to the Community of Christian Athletes. He attended Texas A&M University for one semester before transferring to Kansas State University. He received a football scholarship and played in the 2013 Big 12 Championship Game.
