Tamerlan is a descendant of the legendary Phillips family. He was born in 1971 as the son of singer John Phillips and his third wife Geneviève Wata. Geneviève, his mother, a South African singer, actress and model, died on 18 May 2019. Tamerlane’s parents were married in 1972 at the Golden Palace Restaurant in Los Angeles. Tamerlane grew up in London and his father was a drug addict at the time.
Bijou Phillips was born in 1980 to John and Tamerlane Phillips, two brothers who spent many years growing up together. Bijou was placed in a foster family after her parents separated in 1987 due to being unable to care for their child.
