Terence Allan Crawford was born in Omaha, Nebraska on September 28, 1987 to Terry and Debbie Crawford. Shawntay and Latisha are his two sisters. Terence became interested in boxing at an early age, and started training at the age of seven. He lost only 12 times out of 70 amateur fights. He even defeated Mikey and Danny Garcia as amateurs, both of whom are now world champions.
Because of his three victories in amateur tournaments, he was the first in the American lightweight division. However, his Olympic career suffered due to defeats by Saddam Ali and others.
