Wolfgang Johannes Topfschnig was born In Sankt Veit a der Glan, Austria, on July 8, 1949. When his mother, Maria Topfschnig, wed Josef Puck after his father and mother either split or separated, Wolfgang changed his last name from Topfschnig to Puck. Maria Topfschnig, Wolfgang Puck’s mother, was the first person to teach him how to cook. She also occasionally worked as a pastry chef.
Wolfgang Puck had his culinary training in a number of eateries, including Hotel de Paris, L’Oustau de Baumanière, and Maxim’s.
