Weeks before graduating as a doctor, a South African medical student, Snegugu Thobeka Myeni, living in the Philippines, was reportedly denied the opportunity following her untimely death. However, the medical student’s mother says she is storing her daughter’s body in a morgue and repatriation costs are out of her reach. In addition, the family requested funds to recover from the loss of the medical student. A young KwaZulu-Natal medical student in Utrecht, between Vryhied and Newcastle, was reported to have died at the airport as she was returning home on July 10. In addition, her family made a call on social networks to raise funds for the funeral services for her body.

However, the Kwazulu-Natal provincial government has seen the plea and has pledged to help the grieving family.
