Why Dolly Parton and Late Husband Carl Dean Never Had Kids: 'I Had Freedom'

Dolly Parton and her late husband Carl Dean had a simple reason not to bring the children to their almost 60-year marriage.

The singer “9 to 5”, 79, said Oprah Winfrey earlier that she had not allowed her children to work more during her career.

“Since I had no children and my husband was quite independent, I had freedom,” Parton said in an episode of Apple TV+in November 2020. Talk Oprah. “So, I think a large part of my entire success is the fact that I was free to work.”

Dean and the land icon met long before the glory.

Parton was only 18 years old when the trail crossed them in front of Nashville’s laundry after moving to the southern city to chase her dreams as a performer.

The couple got married two years later in 1966, but Dean remained out of attention as the singer “Jolene” rose to the star.

“I did not have children because I believed that God did not mean that I had children so that everyone’s children could be mine, so I could do things like a fantasy library because if I didn’t have any freedom to work, I wouldn’t do all the things I did,” she explained. “I wouldn’t be able to do all the things I do now.”

Her imagination library has been active for 30 years and is designed to send free books to children until they start school.

“I sacrificed, but I think, as I said, I believe in what I know I should do,” she said about her purpose.

And when Parton was not busy, she made sure she spent special moments with Dean.

“We drive through these little rides through restaurants,” she said Parade In December 2015. “We look at everything from Tennessee and Kentucky, areas from which we can return home at night. Sometimes we will stay in the days of the inn [motel] Where we can only draw me and sneak me. We don’t care, as long as the bed is clean and there is a bathroom. That’s how we live. ”

Parton announced Dean’s death on Monday, March 3rd, given his longtime partner in his social media accounts. He was 82 years old.

“Carl Dean, husband Dolly Parton, passed away on March 3 in Nashville at the age of 82. He will be laid to rest at a private ceremony with the current family attending. He was survived by his siblings Sandra and Donnie,” he writes in the post.

“Carl and I spent many wonderful years together. Words can’t make the love we shared for over 60 years. Thank you for prayers and compassion,” Parton’s Post continued. “The family seeks privacy in this difficult time.”
