Sir Elton John’s performance of Glastonbury could go down in history as one of the festival’s finest performances and marked (perhaps) the musician’s last appearance in the UK. While the Rocketman star welcomed several guest stars to the show, including Brendan Flowers and Rina Sawayama, Dua Lipa was absent from their duet, Cold Heart. So Elton asked the audience to sing her part – but where is Dance the Night star?
While there’s no official word on why the singer missed the iconic Glastonbury set, the singer posted several snaps of the meal she made for the family, showing the pop star is getting a well-deserved break from the limelight.

She shared several photos of the garden party and shared a snap of the burrata with the caption “cooking for my friends and family”. She also shared a photo of the shrimp as one of the dishes, delicious! However, the star acknowledged Elton’s performance and shared a clip of him performing their song with a bunch of love heart emojis.
Fans were disappointed that Dua missed out, with one writing: “Sorry Dua Lipa, but where is more important right now than topping Glastonbury with Elton John? To quote Shrek, ‘somebody better die’ Go’.” Another added: “Unfortunately for Elton John that Dua Lipa chose #Glastonbury for her first night at home in three years.”

A third wrote: “I’m listening to Elton John at work. Can’t believe Dua Lipa missed this? What a wonderful man with an impressive and musical career. She’s so lucky to have had the opportunity to work with him so honestly. It’s great to be involved.” Referring to her dinner, another joked: “I hope the burrata is worth Dua Lipa.”
Elton has previously opened up about his friendship with Duo, telling Variety: “Fortunately, I met her at an AIDS Foundation event. In the fight against AIDS, we desperately need new ones. younger vocals to get people listening and she’s a great live performer, so I knew she would be perfect.David and I took her out to dinner and said: ‘We have this song.'”

The performer announced that this could be his last show in the UK as he performed in front of a huge crowd, telling them: “This has been a very special and emotional night for me because this might be my last gig in the UK, so I’ll do better play well, and I’ll entertain you better, you’ve been standing there for a long time and I really appreciate it all the costumes and everything.”
Discussing his performance, one wrote: “What an end to the weekend and what a way to say goodbye to Elton John. What a great performance to close the big festival. best of the world!” Another added: “#EltonJohn walks on stage like a mid-70s man – then hits the piano with all the energy of a man in his 20s. He’s a legend. bloody #Glastonbury It’s amazing.”
