Why Lindsie Chrisley Says It Was in Her ‘Best Interest’ to Be ‘Methodical’ with ‘Chrisley Knows Best’ Earnings

Lindsie Chrisley gets candid about her earnings Chrisley knows best.

During an episode of her PodcastOne The Southern tea podcast, the 33-year-old reality star gave fans a glimpse into how she was financially compensated during her time on the USA Network reality show.

“Each season there’s been a pay increase for that and you get paid to play, so you get paid per episode you’re in – it’s an episode fee,” she explained, before sharing how she purposely saved her earnings.

“I didn’t adapt our married lifestyle to what I was earning Chrisley knows best,” she said, referring to her ex-husband, Will Campbell. “It wasn’t in my best interest because I didn’t know what the longevity was like there and I didn’t feel like I should be setting us up for a lifestyle that might not be sustainable.”

Lindsie described her savings tactics as “very methodical,” though she ended up losing “all the equity from our first home and our second marital home in my divorce because I had savings that matched what was in the equity in our home.”

She continued, “A lot of the equity in our home came from the money I put into the home upgrade, the mortgage, the down payment. A good part of that money also came from Chrisley knows best and I still lost it.”

Lindsie and Will finalized their divorce in October 2021 after announcing their decision to divorce three months earlier. In an Instagram post at the time, Lindsie confirmed that the two had “mutually decided” that ending their marriage was the best move for their family.

Chrisley knows best premiered in March 2014 and followed the Chrisley family from the South as they go about their daily lives together. The series’ popularity led to a spinoff Growing up Chrisleystarring Chase Chrisley and Savannah Chrisley.

Lindsay’s revelation about her earnings from the USA Network reality series comes after PEOPLE confirmed that the Chrisley gang will launch a new reality show, despite parents Todd and Julie serving prison terms for fraud.

Chase, Savannah, Grayson Chrisley, Chloe Chrisley and Nanny Faye are expected to appear in the Scout Productions series. The company teased that there will be a “continuation of their story” after that. Chrisley knows best concluded in March, two months after Todd, 54, and Julie, 50, reported to prison.

Although Todd and Julie will continue to serve their combined 19-year sentences and are in the process of appealing their case, their attorney Jay Surgent, a partner at Weiner Law Group LLP, previously told PEOPLE that they will participate in the series at some point.

“I expect, knowing Todd, that he will contribute in any way he can,” Surgent said. “She talks to Savannah. Savannah visits her parents, Savannah is in constant contact with her parents on the phone. She’ll add her views on things related to her thoughts on her kids, what they’re doing with their careers, with this new show that’s being bought now. Also, his own situation as well as Julie’s situation.”

“So, although they will not be active participants in the film, their situation, their concerns will be able to be expressed through the mouths of their own children during the performance of this unscripted documentary series,” he added. – So, they are looking forward to it.
