Pokémon Scarlet and Violet That led to an update to the series’ competitive ban list, and what was banned was the ghost-type dog Pokémon Retriever. At first glance, Houndstone doesn’t seem worrisome and certainly doesn’t deserve a ban. However, Houndstone has a unique advantage that may explain why players are afraid to move too fast to ban it.

Houndstone is an evolved form of Greavard, one of the Pokémon that was revealed before the release date Pokémon scarlet and purple. Statistically speaking, Houndstone looks solid, but not overwhelming. It is a physically strong Pokémon with high attack and defense, but otherwise lackluster. Physically inclined ghost-type Pokémon is an interesting niche, joining Dusknoir and Golurk. Even so, Dog Rock’s defensive nature and physical strength are not grounds for banning it. It may not seem like the scariest Ghost-type Pokémon, but Houndstone’s signature move, Last Respect, terrifies many players.
According to the report cigarette smokeLast Respects is a spooky physical move with base strength of 50 that Houndstone learns as soon as it evolves. While its base strength may not be impressive, Last Respects’ power increases by 50 for each fainted Pokémon on the user’s team. For a team of six Pokémon, this usually limits the final score to 300 base strength, which is more powerful than any other move. Scary enough, if a Pokémon comes to life and faints again, this also increases the power of Last Respect, pushing it even further. The final respect is easy Pokémon Scarlet and VioletThe new move is the most powerful, and even its claim to power up makes it ridiculous.
Houndstone also has Sand Rush, which increases its speed during sandstorms. While this may seem like an ability that doesn’t suit it, it makes it an incredible finisher for the Sandstorm team. If the player manages to set up the sandstorm before Houndstone hits the field, it will gain speed to compensate for its normal slowness. This will allow it to release its last full respect before the opponent moves, potentially leading to a KO. This combination is very dangerous with anything that cannot resist or ignore ghost-like attacks. scarlet and purpleThe best post-match Pokémon will probably be in the enhanced version of Last Respects from Houndstone.
Last Respects is Ban’s primary goal, not Houndstone itself, but the only Pokémon that can learn it, Houndstone admitted. Had it become more popular in the future, Ben might have moved on to Regards one last time. Currently, Houndstone’s status is notorious Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Pokémon have been banned for their signature moves.
