Why Taylor Swift’s Cat Benjamin Button Was the Ideal Feline to Join the Star on Her Time Cover

Benjamin Button, Taylor Swift’s ragdoll cat, proves he’s headline star material.

The cat appeared in one of Swift’s three cover photos It is time Photoshoot for Person of the Year 2023 In the shot, the fluffy pet lies over his famous pet parent’s shoulder and stares into the camera with his bold, blue eyes. Swift (33) appears in a long-sleeved black bodysuit and black tights.

After Time revealed the “Cruel Summer” singer as their 2023 Person of the Year, Swift shared her playful reaction to the news, posting a cover featuring Benjamin Button on Instagram with the caption: “Time Magazine: We’d like to name you the Person of the Year Yes- / Me: Can I bring your cat.”

While Benjamin Button accompanied Swift on set, two other cats were absent: Meredith Gray and Olivia Benson. Swift has three cats: Meredith Grey, a Scottish Fold, whom she adopted in 2011; Olivia Benson, who is also a Scottish Fold and joined the family in 2014; and Benjamin, whom she got in 2019 after she met the pet on the set of her music video for the song “ME!”

Some may be wondering why Meredith and Olivia stayed for Swift’s big moment. And while Swift didn’t share where her other two cats were during it Time photos, she hinted that older cats might be less adventurous than Benjamin Button.

In April 2021, after several fans published on X (formerly known as Twitter) about Meredith’s absence from Swift’s social media, the singer-songwriter responded with a fun video.

Benjamin Button, on the other hand, comes from a breed favored for its lack of boundaries. Ragdoll cats, like Benjamin, get their name from their easy-going attitude and tendency to rock in human arms.
