Why Tyler Cameron Spent 2 Weeks as the ‘Annoying Guy’ at a Couples Resort in Fiji (Exclusive)

Warning: This post contains spoilers from the season 2 finale of Fox Special forces: the toughest test in the world.

After his tenure at Special forces: the toughest test in the world, Tyler Cameron spent some time in the sun, sand and random couples before re-entering civilian life.

Bachelor The alum, 30, talks exclusively to PEOPLE about the relaxing vacation he booked in Fiji to unwind after the grueling ordeal he faced on Fox’s boot camp-style reality series.

Cameron reveals he gave himself “three weeks” to take time for himself, spending the first two at a tropical resort surrounded by couples.

“I was almost everyone’s third wheel,” he laughs. “It was a honeymoon spot, and I was just hanging out with a couple of couples I’d never met. Everyone is asking, ‘Who is this annoying guy? Leave us alone. We’re trying to enjoy the intimate time.’”

Despite feeling like a weirdo, the reality star explains why it was important for him to “get away” and “not go straight to my own.”

“I wanted to really digest what I had been through,” Cameron says, noting that he used his time to write notes, journal and read. “And then I ended up going back to my people, but it really took me a while to digest it myself, because what we went through was really profound, extraordinary.”

“I wanted to really try and feel everything before I went back to my people, because I knew that I would immediately go back to work and everything, and just the normal days of life,” he adds.

Cameron was one of three rookies to pass the selection in the second season Special forces: the toughest test in the world.

In the season finale, Cameron stood alongside former Bachelor Nick Viall and Olympic gold speed skater Erin Jackson as the staff judged his performance on the series.

“About halfway through this program, you started stepping it up,” said director Remi Adeleke. “You started demonstrating the fire we were looking for. You’ve turned into a sled dog on all the team assignments here. You showed us another level. So we asked ourselves, do you have what it takes to stand by us?”

“One consistent thing in my life is [that] I always have been this close“, Cameron admitted as he held the width of an inch apart between his fingers. “I always came only for a short time. And I think the biggest thing I want to prove to myself from here is that I can bridge that gap.”

“I want to get to the end,” he said just before it was revealed he had passed.
