Acuna, who was born in Chile, fell from her balcony at around 8.30am on Saturday at a property in Calahonda, near the tourist hotspot of Fuengirola.

Local reports claim she called the police a few hours earlier and said she was attacked and ended up in the hospital, but never made an official complaint.

The British man, 36, who was arrested was described as someone Acuna had been in an “on-off” relationship with and was known to police due to previous incidents of domestic violence involving other partners.

Detectives are investigating whether he was involved in the death of personal trainer Acuna, although they are also treating it as a possible suicide.

First of all, they are allegedly trying to determine whether he was on the property when she fell to her death.

It comes just months after the death of Acuna’s husband at Elliott Wright’s popular Costa del Sol restaurant, Olivia’s La Cala.

Jose Rafael Pisani Pardo – whom Acuna described as the love of her life – suffered a fatal head injury after trying to break up a fight between customers.

A British man (32), who was already known to the police, was arrested for the death of the bodybuilder on April 16.

Officers launched a search for the accused after a video surveillance camera emerged which allegedly showed the moment the doorman was hit with the fatal blow.

The father-of-two is believed to have hit his head when he fell to the ground. He was transported to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Acuna and Venezuelan-born Pisani Pardo were married in a glittering ceremony in Las Vegas five months before his death.

His widow later revealed that he had called her on the phone just hours before he was killed and said he was “scared” because there were a lot of drunken customers.

Father-of-three Elliott Wright closed his restaurant for two days and said in a statement at the time: “We are heartbroken and have closed the restaurant today and tomorrow out of respect.

“We are supporting our staff and family as we await news of further investigations.”

Soon after, the former Towie star’s restaurant was vandalized and covered in graffiti.

In response to the damage, Elliott said: “Our restaurant has been vandalized today which has left us, already shocked and saddened, in complete disbelief.

“We will not allow this senseless vandalism to distract us.”
