William Friedkin Children

William Friedkin was officially known as William David Friedkin, who was an American film and television director, producer, and screenwriter. In the 1970s, he was one of the most admired directors to emerge from a wave of commendable filmmakers who made their indelible mark. Following the production of two of the biggest box-office hits of the 1970s, The French Connection and The Exorcist, he made his legacy in front of the world. Reportedly, the film grossed to have $500m worldwide. It was nominated for 10 Oscars which made him win two and multiple sequels. Unfortunately, the multifaceted director died a the age of 87 on August 7, 2023, Monday at his home in the Bel Air neighborhood of Los Angeles. There were many tributes started to come in from figures in Hollywood, well-wishers as well as movie enthusiasts.

William Friedkin is survived by his two sons, Jackson Friedkin and Cedric Friedkin. In 1972, Friedkin had a relationship with Jennifer Nairn-Smith an Australian dancer and choreographer. Friends and Jennifer announced an engagement twice but they never married and they gave birth to Cedric on November 27, 1976. The late film and television director, Friedkin and his second wife, Lasley Anne Down also had a son named Jack who was born in 1982. Friedkin died of heart failure and pneumonia at his home in Bel Air, his wife, former producer, and studio head Sherry Lansing. Guillermo Del Toro tweeted that the world has lost one of the Gods of Cinema, and he added that a dear, loyal, and true friend William has left us. He added that they were blessed to have him.

Semih Tareen tweeted that we lost a legendary filmmaker, William Friedkin. He created lesser-known masterpieces like Cruising, Bug, and the most recent killer Joe. Friedkin also helped bring other masterpieces to daylight such as Tobe Hooper’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre, an Umami Burger of a movie as Friedkin called off. The picture below was taken in 2012. However, at the time of this report, the family was planning his final funeral arrangement and the details are yet to be finalized. We shall keep you all updated about the case.
