The inventor of the iconic Pop-Tarts toaster William Post died at the age of 96 of heart failure in a senior living community on February 10, 2024 in Grand Rapids. The Pop-Tarts company said in a statement: “We are deeply saddened to share the news that William ‘Bill’ Post passed away over the weekend. He played an important role in co-creating the iconic Pop-Tarts brand, and we are grateful to Bill for his legacy and lasting contributions to our company.”

William Post was a Michigan man who played an important role in the development of the pop-tart. He retired at the age of 56 as a senior vice president at Keeble. When he retired, he settled in Glen Arbor, Michigan. William Post was married to Florence Schut in 1948. They were high school sweethearts. His wife was his support, trust and biggest fan. The constant support and encouragement of William’s wife fueled William’s desire for creativity. William Post’s wife passed away in 2020. The couple had four children named William Jr., Robert, Susan and David. William’s wife taught them the importance of perseverance, kindness and hard work. William Post’s funeral will be held March 7 at the Grand Rapids Christian Reformed Church. William Post also known as Bill Post who grew up on the south side of Grand Rapids.
