A sheriff’s office dive team later recovered the woman’s remains. Authorities have not yet determined whether the animal was a factor in her death. After Pashun Jeffery, 20, was discovered dead in her home in St. Petersburg from multiple stabbings, father Taylen Mosley is accused of throwing the child into a lake. Alligator deaths are extremely rare. According to AZ Animals, the US typically reports an average of six per year. There have been at least two confirmed cases of fatal alligator attacks in Florida this year. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission believes there are 1.3 million alligators in the state. Authorities “humanely killed” the giant reptile, despite neighbors’ claims that rescuers took it out of the water and shot it multiple times. The area is adjacent to the famous Ridgecrest Park, which has a 5-acre lake known to be alligator habitat.
