It turned out that the female swelling around caused by contact lenses – specifically, five separate lenses – which accumulated under her upper eyelid.
The “otherwise healthy” 33-year-old woman arrived at the Plastic Surgery Clinic in China, wanting to repair her “face contour asymmetry,” the case report reported in the report published in Plastic and reconstructive surgery. In order to give it a symmetrical look, doctors suggested injection of fat, which was done under sedation.
However, “during the performance of fat injection … Several transparent contact lenses migrated from the upper harlot” – the space between the upper eyelid and the eyeball. When her doctors turned the left upper eyelid inside, “a total of five soft contact lenses were discovered.”

When the fat is injected, “compresses[ed] space … forcing lenses. ”
Later, the woman confirmed that she had worn contact lenses for many years. “She recalled cases of loss of left contact lens several times ago. It is interesting that she had not experienced any eye symptoms before this surgery.”
Doctors have warned that for other plastic surgeons treating patients similar to an asymmetry of the contour of the face “there may be increased potential for larger hidden spaces within the upper Fornix, increasing the risk of hidden contact lenses.”
“The soft and hydrophilic nature of soft contact lenses makes them less noticeable,” the report said.

This is not the first time the doctors have discovered more contact lenses that have been thrown out in someone’s eyes: in the California an ophthalmologist has become a viral after sharing a video of himself to remove 23 contact lenses under the patient’s eye.
In this case, the patient forgot to remove them.
As for why people are not experiencing any physical discomfort from these lenses, Dr. Katarina Kurtev, an ophthalmologist at California Eye Associates at NewPort Beach, she told the ABC7: “While wearing contact lenses for many years, over 20 to 30 The cornea, which is the most sensitive part of the eye, becomes a desensitized, which is basically a trademark, because otherwise you would really bothered the daily wearing of contact lenses … After all, it is a foreign body in your eye. ”

You always need to remove contact lenses before bed at night. As the Cleveland clinic notes, “Is sleeping with contacts for sure? Short answer? No.” It increases the risk of ulcers in the eyes, infection and yes, migrating lenses.
“Even if you just rest your eyes to sleep quickly, you should show those contacts. Sleeping any time increases the risk of irritation or infection.”
