World Coconut Day 2023: How much coconut water, oil and milk should you eat per day?

World Coconut Day 2023: Major coconut producing countries, including India, observe September 2 as Coconut Day. First observed in 1969, the day marks the founding of the Asia Pacific Coconut Community (APCC). It aimed to promote sustainable coconut cultivation throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

The Asia-Pacific Coconut Community consists of all coconut-producing countries, including India. According to APCC“The main objective of this organization is to promote, coordinate and harmonize all the activities of the coconut industry which sustains the lives of millions of small farmers as well as those involved in the production, processing and marketing of coconut products.”

This year marks the 54th anniversary of APCC’s foundation. The organization still wants to improve the socio-cultural status of coconut farmers and create awareness in the society about the benefits of coconut. The theme of World Coconut Day 2023 is “A sustainable coconut sector for present and future generations”.

Coconut oil

A teaspoon or less is the ideal amount for a cup of coffee or tea.

Coconut water

Coconut water, also known as coconut juice, is the clear or semi-clear liquid inside a young coconut. There are no specific guidelines on how much coconut water to consume. Dieters can often enjoy one to two cups a day, while others simply stick to one cup of coconut water. Also, according to experts, it is advisable to limit the daily intake of coconut water to less than two cups.

Coconut milk

Coconut milk is a byproduct of coconut processing. It is obtained by shredding the meat of a ripe, brown coconut and boiling it in hot water. Afterwards, the mixture is filtered to remove any remaining solids. The white drink is considered rich in saturated fat. Experts recommend limiting saturated fat to less than 10% of daily calories, so 1-2 cups of coconut milk a day is still reasonable.
