World Cup 2023 points table: Team standings after Australia vs Sri Lanka; Australia moved up to 7th place

World Cup 2023 Points Table Today: Australia and Sri Lanka clashed in the 14th match of the World Cup 2023 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Both teams were coming off two consecutive defeats and needed a win to boost their morale and maintain their chances of reaching the semi-finals.

Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first. The team intended to use their explosive batting line-up which had scored two 300+ runs in the last two games, though Sri Lanka lost. The Chains suffered the same fate as Pakistan in the recent match against India. Just as Pakistan went from 155/2 to 191/10 in just over 10 overs, Sri Lanka slumped to 209 all out from 157/2 in 27 overs.

Adam Zampa was the pinnacle of Australia’s bowling attack, proving right the pundits who had been saying all year that spinners would prove crucial on Indian pitches.

Australia survived an early scare that resulted in the quick dismissals of David Warner and Steve Smith. However, the team bounced back with the help of Marnus Labuschagne, Mitchell Marsh, Josh Inglis and Glenn Maxwell, who finished the game in style.

With this incredible display of cricket, Australia moved up to number 8 in the points table.
