He won two Colorado state championships in high school and was named player of the year in 2011. He enrolled at Oklahoma State in 2012 after finishing ninth at the 2012 US Amateur Championships. He transferred to Oregon in 2016, where he won the Pac-12 title and was named the GolfWeek Player of the Year. In 2017, he obtained a degree in business.
