X Factor legend forced to cancel village hall gig after selling just 27 tickets – despite signing £1m record deal

X FACTOR legend Steve Brookstein has been forced to cancel a gig after selling just 27 tickets – despite signing a £1m record deal.

The 55-year-old, who is best known for winning the first series of the ITV show in 2004, was due to perform at the village hall in Dorset this month.

Steve’s show at the Merryfield Theater in Verwood was canceled due to insufficient tickets being sold.

The hall can accommodate up to 300 people, but only 27 bought a ticket to attend.

According to MailOnline, Steve’s agent said the gig was canceled due to “ill health”.

However, a spokesperson for the venue confirmed that he canceled on February 8, just 10 days before he was due to take the stage.

They told the publication: “We know that 27 tickets have been sold.

“The artist canceled on February 8 and all ticket holders were contacted prior to the event.

“All ticket holders have also been given the choice of a full refund or transferring their tickets to a future event at the Verwood Hub.”

Steve then performed at Surrey’s Esher Theater just six days after canceling his Dorset gig – which has a standing capacity of 300 people.

Back in 2004, Steve beat G4 to the top spot on the ITV show.

After winning the X Factor, he signed a contract with Sony BMG, but dropped out a year later.
